One Touch Football Academy & Education Scholarship – Term One Done!
Term 1 Round Up
As we complete the first sections on education with our first years completing Principles of Anatomy and Physiology in Sport and Physiology of Fitness with all meeting the pass grade criteria and our second years working on Instructing Physical Activity and Exercise and Technical and Tactical Analysis of an Elite Sports Performer, all of our students received at least a pass in their work.
On the football side of the programme we have worked on a number of aspects from switching play, creating opportunities in front of goal to combination play. We have seen all of our players develop in the first term of the programme as they get 15 to 20 hours a week of football.
Cup
As we took on Soccer Assist in the English College cup away in Milton Keynes we came out 4 -2 winners and will go into the next round to be drawn Monday 5th November.
Tour Planning
In 2019 we will be offering all of our students the chance to travel to Barcelona on a tour which will consist of five days away which will see us train daily, play in a number of fixtures, visit Barcelona FC and experience the Spanish culture.
Recruitment
On Tuesday 23rd October we held our first trial for our September 2019 intake, this saw twenty students watch a presentation with Academy Director Glenn Vaughan before going out to take part in a football session with Harsh and Glenn.
On Friday 26th October we welcomed some local U16 teams to join us in a football tournament held at the Grange the home of Netherton United FC, with our new recruits finishing winners, as they were undefeated.
We look forward to welcoming the students and parents in for the next stage of the recruitment process.
Next Open Event
Our next open event will be on Monday 10th December at Netherton Utd FC, The Grange, PE3 9ES from 6.00 till 7.00pm, if you are in school year 11 and want to train, play, learn and earn in fantastic football facilities which is an adult environment and not a school or a college.
Glenn Vaughan, Academy Director said” It has been a great way to start the academic year with over fifty students enrolled on our BTEC in Sport programme. The students have returned in good spirits and form whilst the new students have settled in well.
It was safe to say the half term period was welcomed by everyone to recharge their batteries and go again. This term is going to be even busier as we continue to work hard on and off the pitch”.
