One Touch Football Academy, which runs in partnership with Netherton Utd FC, goes from strength to strength, a promising start the New Year.
As we continue to offer players the opportunity to compete in the English College League at category two and three level this season, a large number of our students have also represented Netherton Utd FC U18 in the FA Youth Cup and competed in the Northants Senior Youth League.
Our scholarship programme offers all of our students a minimum of 10 to 12 hours football a week; having a further array of opportunities for our scholars to participate in extra football like the ones listed above gives them a pathway into Netherton Utd FC senior which is very encouraging.
Our education aspect of the programme is something we are also particularly proud of. We achieved a 100% pass rate for all students enrolled across the three academic years, since the centre opened, with 98% of students meeting their target grade. Our students are currently studying a BTEC in Sport as well as a NCFE in Sport. Both are recognised qualifications, which has been governed by Ofsted as good.
Many of our students have progressed onto studying Foundation Degrees and beyond at an collection of universities, giving them great prospects career wise for the future. Many other students have continued on with their studies and secured sport apprenticeships along with many securing some fantastic employment opportunities, which have become available to them since joining us on our programme.
The 2019 Academic Year has also allowed us to offer National Citizen Service known as NCS for our new recruits, which many of our Year Twelve students are also completing. This scheme is a great experience of gaining experience, going away participating in an array of activities and giving something back to the local community.
Our Academy is based at The Grange in Peterborough. This is a fantastic facility for our students to learn and play. We are also very fortunate that we have close links with other businesses such as local gyms and links with St George’s Park, the home of England football that allows us to offer different experiences, learning environments and opportunities the students wouldn’t experience elsewhere.
Glenn Vaughan, Head of Academy commented “the partnership and the football pathway we have created with Netherton Utd FC is very strong, seeing students playing within the first team through to U18 mid week squad.”
Glenn also added “Our pass rate is something we are proud of but 98% achieving their target grade which is always set to push the students initially is something we do pride ourselves in”.
We are recruiting males that are leaving school to U18 age that would like to train, learn, earn and play.
Our next open event is Tuesday 18th February from 1.00 till 3.00pm, please register online at www.onetouchfootballl.co.uk
